“Life is messy, laugh about it” sums up comedian Karen Morgan’s approach to life, to the relief of frazzled parents everywhere in need of a good belly laugh.
The Georgia native and former trial attorney, now a stay-at-home mom of three, took a stand-up comedy class “to get out of the house once a week.” It clicked, and soon she was a finalist in Nick at Nite’s “Search for the Funniest Mom in America.” Morgan, 52, has her fingers in many pies these days, from producing the Nantucket Comedy Festival to solo comedy appearances at theaters and clubs nationwide. She can be heard on Sirius XM Radio and nationally syndicated radio shows. She also teams up with fellow comedian Jim Colliton with a show they call “Lawn and Disorder,” his-and-her takes on marriage and parenting.
“We all need to laugh about life’s ups and downs,” the Cumberland resident says. “Let’s face it, parenting is funny!”
