Roller derby. Being able to be me, to push myself mentally and physically is like meditation. After work, home, kids and school, this is how I unwind.
RACHEL CHAYA CARON
I like to take a long ride on the motorcycle to clear my head.on
Knitting is my solace. Amid the hectic pace of balancing a career, family and home, sitting with needles and wool calms me.
I read cookbooks and drink wine while I’m pretending to do laundry.
Head to Moosehead Lake as often as we can. It’s an almost immediate stress reliever listening to the loons on the lake and a train’s horn echoing off the lake at all hours.
Movies. Nothing helps me decompress like getting completely into something outside of myself.
A good part of the year I’ve got some form of gardening to do, which relaxes me. There’s something about flowers and plants, the dirt and the watering, and my favorite, pulling weeds, that brings me peace.
Yoga or some gentle stretching and a nice walk in the crisp, cool air with my dog makes everything better.
ADRIA MOYNIHAN RUSK
Anything involving heat and water. A bath, a hot tub, a sauna. Puts me in another emotional/physical space like nothing else can.
I sit down in my rocking chair with a cup of tea and my crocheting. It allows me to get away from the stresses of the day and come down to something as simple as thread and hook.
SUSAN SHERRILL AXELROD
I go out into the garden and pull weeds. Clears my head every time!
